Artist Spotlight: Cassie Rose Kobeski

You won’t want to miss artist Cassie Rose Kobeski during First Friday September at The Black Box Cafe (1st floor of the Ritz Building, 222 Wyoming Ave.)

Cassie Rose Kobeski has always had a passion for art making and story telling and combines the two in her narrative paintings, prints, and drawings.  She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Marywood University with her BFA and received her MFA from Parsons School of Design in Manhattan, where she received the National Arts Club Award of Distinction and was a Joan Mitchell Grant nominee. She has exhibited her work throughout the United States in New York at Artists Space, Heidi Cho Gallery, Spencer Brownstone Gallery, the National Arts Club, Metro Pictures, and ZieherSmith; in Pennsylvania at PhilaMOCA in Philadelphia, PA, The Headkeeper in Pittsburgh, PA, The State Museum of Pennsylvania in Harrisburg; and locally at the Hope Horn Gallery at the University of Scranton, AFA Gallery, Mahady Gallery, ArtWorks, and Linder Gallery to name a few.  She has also exhibited internationally in Florence, Italy and the Netherlands. 

Her work has been published on the cover of Meat for Tea Magazine and was a

Featured Artist in American University’s Folio Journal and had a Photograph published in Hipster Puppies: The Book.

She was an adjunct professor at Marywood University for ten years and Keystone College for two years, teaching figure Drawing, Painting, 2D Design, and Art History/Art Appreciation.  She has been an Artist in Residence for the Everhart Museum in Scranton, PA for several programs, including Arts Alive Intermediate.

In her current position as Volunteer Coordinator at Compassionate Care Hospice, she enjoys incorporating art as therapy for her hospice patients.  At home, she loves making art with her two children, Zoey and Charlie.
