First Friday Scranton to Hold Fifth Annual Art Auction

SCRANTON, PA –  First Friday Scranton, a non-profit organization that hosts free art walks on the first Friday of every month at dozens of galleries and businesses around downtown Scranton, will hold its Fifth Annual Art Auction fundraiser from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at The Scranton Cultural Center.  Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at http://www.firstfridayscranton.com/artauction/.
ffaa0059The event consists of a live auction of more than 30 pieces of artwork donated by local artists, as well as a silent auction and a wine bottle pull.  Proceeds from the art auction fundraiser benefit the non-profit, volunteer-driven First Friday Scranton organization and helps support the monthly art walks and local artistic initiatives, including the Judith Youshock Artist Grants program which awards $100 grants for youth artists (18 and under) and $300 grants for artists over 18 years old.
This year’s event will feature a live and silent auction including art from Benjamin Adcroft, Maria Grzybowski, Colleen Philips,  Judith Youshock, Michelle Geiser, Daniel Sheldon, Amy Wyman, Christine Medley, Melissa Carestia, Philip Barket, Ryan Hnat, Lisa Temples-Maopolski, Sue Jenkins, Shari P. Kantor, Sungyoon Choi and more.
During the event, First Friday will announce the first recipients of the Judith Youshock Artist Grants (www.FirstFridayScranton.com/judygrant/).  The program was created to honor the spirit and energy of local artist, Judith Youshock, one of First Friday Scranton’s founding members.
First Friday Scranton will be awarding three $300 grants and three $100 grants.  The board will also be announcing the application deadline for the next round of grant awards.
